TellMeTea ("we", "us", or "our") operates the TellMeTea mobile application and the website at tellmetea.net (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name via Firebase Authentication.
Playlists and favorites: Stories you save, playlists you create, and your listen history are stored in our database. You can delete these at any time.
Usage events: We log anonymous interaction events (e.g., story plays, searches, queue actions) to improve the Service. Events are tied to a random session identifier, not to your personal identity.
Error reports: If the app crashes, we automatically collect error information (error message, stack trace, platform) to diagnose and fix issues. This data does not contain personally identifiable information.
Guest sessions: If you use the app without creating an account, we generate an anonymous session identifier (HMAC-based) to enable features like favorites and history. This identifier does not contain any personally identifiable information.
We do not collect payment information, health data, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, location data, browsing history outside the Service, or any data from children under 13.
We use the following third-party services:
These services may collect information as described in their own privacy policies.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Anonymous event data is retained for up to 24 months. Guest session data is retained for up to 12 months of inactivity. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure cloud infrastructure, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA. If you are in the European Economic Area, you may have rights under the GDPR. Contact us to exercise any applicable rights.
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised effective date.
